Week #29

Working on the shredder  I jammed I spent most of the week keeping busy work on things that need done but are not urgent. The Church has us keep financial records for three previous years plus the current year. Old records are kept in the cave and I found records for 2017-2019 that needed shredding. Whenever I am bored with nothing to do, I shred. I started out with six boxes and I am down to the last one. I thought about having someone else do it but the one place I checked wanted a dollar a pound. Too much, so I ended up doing it myself. We have a super-duper shredder but I jammed it this week and had to work on getting it unjammed. I've included a picture of part of the cave. It is the basement of the stake center next to the office. Lots of junk is stored down there and it can be spooky. Each ward has a locked cage that they need to hire mom to clean up for them. The biggest part of the space is taken up by the mission with about everything that is needed to furnish an apartmen

It was another fairly slow week. I finished up the rent for June which is always nice. Now I just wait and see how many of them don't get the check. With so many complexes not taking checks anymore I got tired of paying the credit card service fee and next month I will start paying those rents with a direct bank transfer. It makes things a little more involved on my end but will be worth it as there are no added fees.  I think I will end up putting four or five more apartments on that arrangement next month. We had Elder and Sister Young from Toquerville over for dinner today. His career was to demo temples that are being remodeled. They are serving as Young Single Adult missionaries and seem to be enjoying the calling. As you can imagine, most of their service is in the evening so they spend time each week at the temple. It is back open again after being closed for a couple of months to get the stain glass windows replaced.  The Visitors Center looks to be getting a little more bu

Happy Mother's Day to you moms - especially my daughters and daughters-in-law. Mom has set a wonderful example for all of you.  It is blowing and raining sheets out right now so I hope I can finish this without electricity going out. We celebrated Mother's Day yesterday. After cleaning the apartment we went shopping. Besides grocery shopping we went to Hobby Lobby. For a junk store it is a pretty nice store. By junk, I mean there's not much in there that is a necessity. We bought mom a better watercolor set and some paper. I saw a puzzle that I liked that is 39 x 27 inches. If I had looked at the size I probably wouldn't have bought it as mom has to do it on the kitchen table. Yesterday afternoon we took some of the single sisters to dinner at Olive Garden. We had invited all the single missionary sisters in the mission (8) but only four were able to come. Olive Garden is not my favorite but it was still nice. A few ready for inspection We had Zone Conference this week

Whoa. Where did the 80 degree temperatures go? All last week was in the sixties and seventies and then Saturday and today it hit 90! It is kind of nice to be able to go outside without a jacket on. Just a bit of the mess It was a pretty slow week although I seemed to keep busy. Sometimes busy is just shredding previous years financial records. The Church says to keep three previous years plus this year so anything before 2020 I can shred. I started out with six boxes and am down to four. I was going to have it shredded but they wanted a dollar a pound.  A few of the happenings this week: Elder Hegvik picked up a car that had been in the shop for seven months. It was a new Nissan that had blown an engine and the dealer had to wait on parts. They figure they spent over $20000 on it. Why they didn't just replace it with a new one we don't know. When Elder Hegvik picked it up the guy told him they hadn't touched anything in the interior. Elder Hegvik thought that was strange bu
