Week #28

It was another fairly slow week. I finished up the rent for June which is always nice. Now I just wait and see how many of them don't get the check. With so many complexes not taking checks anymore I got tired of paying the credit card service fee and next month I will start paying those rents with a direct bank transfer. It makes things a little more involved on my end but will be worth it as there are no added fees.  I think I will end up putting four or five more apartments on that arrangement next month.

We had Elder and Sister Young from Toquerville over for dinner today. His career was to demo temples that are being remodeled. They are serving as Young Single Adult missionaries and seem to be enjoying the calling. As you can imagine, most of their service is in the evening so they spend time each week at the temple. It is back open again after being closed for a couple of months to get the stain glass windows replaced.

The Visitors Center looks to be getting a little more busy. They got four young Sisters assigned there a couple of weeks ago and more are coming in the next few weeks. They alternate between the Visitors Center and Liberty Jail but are only here during the peak season. We were thinking about putting in for a Historical Site mission but am glad we didn't as it doesn't look as if missionaries are kept very busy, especially in the winter months. I wouldn't care for that.

President Ames called on Thursday and said he had lost his church credit card. I called Bank of America but wasn't on the list of people who could deal with his card so President had to call. I wrote SLC asking to be put on the list. The guy instead cancelled the card and issued a new one which I didn't ask him to do. In the meantime, President found his card and wanted to cancel the cancellation but it was too late. The new card was scheduled to get here Saturday but no one is in the office on Saturday so I hope to see it tomorrow.

Our big boys...and Sis. Ethington
Gas prices were crazy this week. It had been going down a few cents every couple of days and got down to $2.99 on Wednesday morning. Wednesday evening going home it was $3.39 - a 40 cent jump! I can only thing that some crooks are making money. It's creeping back down now but I suspect it will jump again for Memorial Day.

We've got a couple of college football players in our mission. Elder Tomson plays for BYU and Elder Lotulelei for USU and they are companions.  A package came to the office this week and weighed a ton. Elder Lotulelei had ordered a weight vest to wear each day. It weighs 40 pounds. I didn't ask his position but he looks like a running back. Elder Tomson is a big boy and is on the offensive line. They make Sister Ethington look like a midget.

The Crosbys
We met the Crosby's for dinner at Pizza Ranch last Monday evening and that was fun. The only one that didn't make it was Aaron Jr. We had a nice evening reacquainting ourselves and remembering their visits to Utah. The last time they were to our place was June 2010 so everyone has grown up. They plan on visiting us again soon to see our family pictures.

We got quite a bit of rain this week. Friday it rained basically all day and came down hard at times. It looks as if the snow runoff in Utah will hit its peak this week so we'll be watching the news and praying for the best.
